Losing a kitty- how to support spouse?

We just put down our 8 year old kitty Wally. He wasn’t breathing properly, and the xrays showed he had a tumor. We are in shock. While we know we made the right decision for him. My wife is devastated. This cat was her entire life before we met. She left a terrible toxic relationship prior to us. She started a new life in her own apartment. The first thing she did was she rescued her cat. He was literally her only companion for many months while she went through a deep and dark depression. They were so attached that when I first came around he didn’t like me.

My concern is now that he has passed away she will slip back into her depression. We are both so sad about losing our kitty but she is taking it so hard. I just want to remain supportive for her, and I’m looking for any tips, and suggestions on how to allow her to grieve without her slipping into another depression. I love this woman to death and I know that she made the most selfless decision she could today. I just want to help.

TLDR: We lost our kitty today. My wife is devastated because he was her cat. Wally helped her through a very dark time. I want to make her feel supported but I am worried about her. I just need some advice on how to proceed
