We got my dog Oscar when I was 9 years old. He used to be considered my moms dog as she was the one he would follow around constantly, but eventually I earned the title and he began sleeping with me every night and almost never leaving my side. I do consider him my best friend. Now i’m 21 and he’s getting old. He hasn’t displayed any ailments outside of the normal for an old dog, like slightly cloudy eyes, some warts, etc. Recently I’ve noticed that he doesn’t want to sleep with me anymore. He might come to bed and then when i’m asleep or even before within a matter of minutes he gets up and lays on the ground in the hallway. He has been doing this about every night for the past week or so. I don’t understand why he doesn’t want to sleep in my bed like he has for years, and I may just be being paranoid because I’m grappling with my beloved’s mortality, but it makes me worry about him. Searching online has not returned much help so I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience or has any clue as to what’s going on with my dog. any and all advice is appreciated!
