I recently brought home a 1 year old female kitty from the shelter and I currently have a 10 month old male already. New kitty has been doing fairly well in her safe room for the past couple days, and the two cats have traded sniffs under the door and such. Today I tried to let them interact between a baby gate and my resident male cat tried to sniff her through the gate and she got very upset and slapped at him while hissing. Is this something to be concerned about or is this just a part of the process?
