We've recently introduced a 3-month old female to our household with our 12-year old neutered male cat. They get along and play daily now. However we noticed if we pick up the kitten (to move her) and she whines in protest , our male cat will come running in meowing. We were wondering if this was because he was concerned with us or her? It's been about a month. He meows inquisitive and urgently, and sniffs her when he sees her again. I didn't think male cats were paternal 🤷♀️ he's been altered since kittenhood and an only cat his whole life.
