I am a 16 year old college student that would like to purchase my own pet and I am struggling to choose one. I get around £500 / monthly (~$700) that I would be able to spend on the pet. I already have a dog, but I don't really own it (It doesn't sleep in my room and it sees my grandfather as it's owner) as it's my grandparents but I spend a lot of time with it and enjoy cuddling it and spending time with it and would like to get my own. I go to college 2.5 days a week so I am able to spend a lot of time with it but I would like a pet that is friendly with humans. Also, I wouldn't be able to get my own dog or cat as my dog that I have right now isn't friendly with dogs or cats.
Right now I am thinking about learning more about guinea pigs or gerbils and eventually purchasing one of them as they sound like good 'starter' pets.
I don't know if these types of threads are allowed on here but thanks for reading my post and I hope I can get some good suggestions.
