My wife loves her cats. We found 2 kittens about 3 days old that the mother had abandoned. My wife and I being a cat lover was determined to save these little ones. She got up every 2 hrs to bottle feed them . Fast forward 2 years (today) we managed to save both cats . 3 days ago our male cat a(Reds)was acting a little wierd . he was hiding alot. we thought it was because we had my 2 year old niece Visiting and she was running around. He finally came out to use litter box and there was blood everywhere. Litter box had blood floor covered in blood. We call vet asap. Nobody would see him and was told to take him to an vet er. We knew if we did that there was no way we would be able to afford walking in door.,so I continued to call and found a vet to see him right away. My wife took Reds to be seen and I fell over when she called me with the estimate. It turned out the cat has a severe UTI . they put him on iv drip and told us they wanted to keep him because his urine is grainy and wanted to laser it. We got the estimate and it said between $1300 and $1800 and they needed half up,front. I dont have that kind of money available. My wife pleaded with them to help and what could we do. I had $250 I told her we could pay them now and make payments. They said no they couldn't do that . They agreed to give him a shot of strong antibiotic and a bunch of pain meds. And send him home with my wife . Reds is not doing well as he is trying to pee and not much comes,out and what does is,blood . Now I feel like the only thing we can do is euthanize him because we just dont have $1800 as I am disabled from an accident I had as an electrician. My elderly mother got cancer and could no longer care for herself and was forced to move in with me. I'm on a fixed income and,im able to male ends meet. Its insain that a member of our family that we hand fed at 4 days old may have to be put down because we can't afford the treatment up front . My wife is devastated and has been crying all evening. I was going to try and raise money on a go fund me,or crowd sharing but it just feels so wierd to ask for money as I have always did my best to make sure we never had to ask for money. What should I do ? I dont want to put him down over money. Its wrong .please any advice or help would be a blessing.
