My senior (13 yo) cat doesn't have most of her teeth (adopted this way), and pretty much swallows her food whole without chewing, and vomits several times a week.
We tried feeding her wet food, but she only drinks the stew and leaves the chunks of actual food alone.
Would grinding up / crushing the kibble into smaller pieces help the vomiting?
I'm thinking about purchasing a food chopper and just cutting up her dry food into chewed-size chunks.
Background on kitty's health:
- She had a physical exam 2-3 months ago and her blood work was excellent. Vet commented that she is in great shape.
- When she does vomit, it's always right after eating (though she vomits 3-4 times a week, not after every meal), sometimes in the morning, sometimes afternoon, sometimes dinner.
- The vomit is just her unchewed kibble (no blood/bile, etc).
- She doesn't act sick, lethargic, or in pain. She has no diarrhea. Her belly isn't tender to touch.
