Any tips for flying with a cat via American Airlines?

I will be flying in 8 days with my longhair 12 yr old cat. We will be on a 6am flight, and she will be in the cabin with me. It is a 4hr flight. I have made reservations for her.

I was told I do not need any documentation, and I looked into my final destination which does not require any documentation for cats. I am going to bring shot records to be on the safe side, but i’d rather not get a health certificate since American does not need it, and its $65. Lol.

I am going to request a private screening room upon arrival to security, I don’t want to worry about her freaking out when I take her out of her carrier. Even with her harness on I don’t trust her. Car rides are very stressful for her, so I am nervous but I think she will be fine.

Any tips to make this easy/things I should make sure to pack or do would be much appreciated.
