Hiya all. So my 8 year old Russian blue has been behaving poorly lately. He is neutered but not an indoor cat. All day he is out from about 4am to sunset. Then I bring him in for the night.
He has had the same little box and position since he moved in with me. I change his sand often and clean it every day. It’s a large plastic tub and the tub hasn’t changed four about 4years. I just put new sand when the old one is smelling. He normally always goes to it.
The last three weeks he has had four different incident. 1) He peed in my wife’s wardrobe 2) A week later he pooed in the bathroom. 3) The following day he pooed under my bed. In his defense offense 2&3 it had been raining for a few days and I equated it to wet soil and him not wanting to go there. 4) I went away over the weekend and he normally stays with my parents. At their home. The day after I dropped him off. They called him in from outside and just after he came in he pooped on the rug.
I’m not sure if it’s something I should be overly concerned about. I bought another brand of sand. And also thinking about changing the plastic tub. If he continues.
But really just trying to understand the reason for the behavioral issue.
