Cat eating off the floor

Hi folks,

My girlfriend is concerned that our cat is eating off the floor (carpet specifically). We use one of those food puzzle balls that she bats at for food to slowly dispense. We do this for every dry food meal in an attempt to make her lose weight.

My girlfriend is worried since sometimes we wear shoes inside, walk around the house regularly, and scared of plastics / hair.

I told her we can simply vacuum but she doesn't think that's enough. So is it really that bad for cats to eat off the floor? Thanks.
