Without going into too much detail, I lost my mom to Alzheimer's 2 years ago. I was her caregiver. Losing her destroyed me and it took me until very recently to start moving forward. I had money in savings that has run out and am now looking for a job.
My worst nightmare has come true, one of my dogs needs help and I don't know what to do. Cupid is 14 but he's my baby. Somehow he cut his testicles and was bleeding pretty badly. I did my best to blot the area until the bleeding stopped. I can see it's more than a cut, a gash would be the best word I can think of. I'm trying to keep the area clean but I think it's infected. There's white forming around the wound. I truly do not know what to do. His vet won't do payment plans and I can't even afford the 40 visit fee if he did. I've called to see if there are free services anywhere but have had no luck. Does anyone know of any places that offer free services or will accept delayed payments?
As far as his gash, are there any tips on how to keep it clean and avoid infection? I've never dealt with any type of injury on that area on him. This may be a dumb question but he has Amoxicilin from September. Can I give him that to avoid or help an infection? I'm sorry this is so long. I'm panicked and scared. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
