I have a 2 y/o golden boy. He can sit, wait for up to 60 seconds, lay down, shake, jump, walks well on a leash in non stimulating environments. But no matter what I try, I can't get him to recall. He is not food oriented AT ALL so treats do nothing for training. Usually we will reward him with praise but praise just isn't as exciting as new environment whether it's the beach or hiking. I take him on hikes and he'll run a full quarter mile ahead of me, and come back and check on me, and then run off again. He gets super zoomies and he'll do this the whole hike. We walked with my friends Aussie who is about the same age and he stayed with us the whole time. It was so nice!! I asked my friend and he said his dog loves treats. 😓 I'm not interested in shock collars. Any ideas for other ways to incentivize him to recall?
