Spoiler alert: It's likely not a UTI or stones
My spayed, 7 year old cat recently started kicking the litter around in her box and meowing constantly. She digs pretty incessantly and doesn't look like she's having trouble going to the bathroom. She probably does this every 10-15 minutes day and night if not more frequently. I took her to the vet for her annual checkup and her bloodwork is clear, they didn't find evidence for a UTI, and an x-ray for bladder stones yielded none.
The biggest change is that I recently moved to a new apartment and city, during which she stayed at my mom's house. My mom has a dog that she's relatively indifferent to. I wouldn't say they get along, but they aren't hostile either. I do notice that she doesn't dig when she's at my mom's house though. She seems calmer. Otherwise, her diet has stayed the same and she does this with every type of litter variety I've tried (clay, Pretty Litter, Skoon, now wood chips).
I've tried Feliway to no avail.
Has anyone else successfully identified and curbed a cat's noisy night habits? I can't sleep.
