How to properly get rid of a pet duck??

Hi! So a few months ago, i was visiting a neighbor who had 2 pet ducks, which he got from TractorSupply. It was during a super hot period and one of his ducks was clearly dehydrated. Long story short, he didn’t think that the duck would make it so he slit his throat/: Im sorry for the graphic description!! Anyways, i was devastated and so I volunteered to take his other duck home and care for it. I have been taking care of him for a few months and things have been perfect! I live with my boyfriend and his uncle out in the country and even have a little pond outside my house. The perfect place for a duck. Well, recently, we found out that they are selling the house and money is very tight and we are more than likely going to have to move to an apartment. As you probably know, we won’t be able to have him with us there. I have done some research and it said that we can’t drop him off at a duck pond or a park because he’s domesticated and that would just be wrong, which i totally agree with. Does anyone have any advice for getting rid of him? I really dont want to but I understand that that is really my only option/: Thank you in advance.
