I'm looking at adopting a dog. Those who work full time, Do dogs manage at home all day? Do they not get bored?

I had some issues the past year or so with video game additiction and filling my life with healthy and productive things to do. Its come to the point now where I'm not phsycially active and I just need something to look after/put time into to make myself productive

I have never owned a pet and have always wanted a dog. I'm old enough now that I can afford one and have the time to look after/train one

I'll most likely adopt as I don't have the time to train and socialise a puppy. I only worry about leaving the dog home all day. I work full-time varying hours through out the day. At the most the dog will be by itself for 6-7 hours a day

I live in my parents place and they are home some days.

Do dogs get bored? I really would like to have a companion but I'm worried about what it will do during the day when I'm at work.

Can anyone else who works full time and leaves Thier dog home all day comment on this?

Thanks!
