So first for a bit of background:
This has been going on for a long time and we have tried a lot of things. Unfortunately I'm not the sole caretaker of him anymore as I live away from home. He is also 13 years old.
About a year and a half ago, he had crystals in his pee. We were told to give him special food to dissolve them. However, it seems that the food only has extra water content and doesn't really have anything else, and my cat actually already drinks a lot of water - I see him drinking from his bowl at least 3 times in a day. (Is this too much for a cat or is it concerning he's drinking so much?) He also refused to eat it, so my parents won't buy it anymore as it's very expensive.
Fast forward to around 6 months ago, he starts randomly peeing everywhere in the house. He was not allowed inside anymore which upset me greatly. It may also be important to note that he will find a suitable spot to go to most of the time (like on sheets of paper, blankets etc).
Then, about 3 weeks ago he got an infected wound from a cat fight and had to have an operation as it wasn't healing. He was on antibiotics and the vet said it should solve any urine related issues. Nope. He is still peeing anywhere. We tried a litter tray in case he just didn't want to go outside but he refuses to use that, too.
I'm asking here after doing a lot of research and many vets trips that have never really solved this. My parents won't take him again as it's too expensive.
Can anyone have provide any advice for this from experience?
