She came to us pregnant from a family member back in June, and the cats in their home were aggressive towards her, so she needed to be somewhere safe right away. Since her kittens died in June (unfortunately we lost all of them at 3 weeks, vet said they were probably sick) she has been super anxious and always craving attention. She ignored her kittens anyway, and we had to take care of them. We waited until early December to welcome a new adopted kitten into our home, and my cat absolutely loves her, which is great! Our new kitten is about 9 weeks (we’ve had her 3) and loves attention too. Our big cat, all of a sudden, will not let anyone touch the kitten. Her tail goes bushy, she growls, hisses, and on a few occasions attacks - our friend left bleeding this evening from my adult cat attacking him. We have kids, and she’s even aggressive with our daughter. Of course, we love both our cats and don’t want to just get rid of the big one because she’s being so mean, however, she’s now hovering over the kitten so much she’s (the kitten) barely getting enough to eat, and the safety of our kids is very important too,
Tonight our cats are separated in different rooms, and we want to see how tomorrow goes once our daughter opens her gifts. We’ve agreed that if we can’t fix this behavior in a few days, we will consult a vet, and may have to consider rehoming if there’s nothing we can do,
