My cat of 17 years who is more like a dog crossed the rainbow bridge, and I think my next animal is going to be a dog...what breed, or mutt (because I’m all about rescue) would you recommend for me?

My cat has always been more of a dog — food motivated, very attached, always sleeps on me, vocal.

I don’t think I could get another cat right now. I have one, but getting another would feel too much like I’m replacing my kindred cat, and I know that works for some but I kind of want a dog. I like the constant need for attention and affection, and I think it would be healthy to get outside.

I live in the PNW where it’s often rainy and cold, and I have a big open backyard attached to a park for exercise.

I really love border collie’s and I grew up with one/trained it...I love how smart they are and choosy as well.

Are there any dog breeds you could recommend that are more cat friendly if raised with one, as well as on the affectionate side?

Obviously, I will be going to a shelter where anything is possible, but any info on breeds/breed mixes that might be a good fit for our forever home would be very much appreciated ❤️.
