The situation Im about to explain may be confusing but Im trying to get a new microchip on a dog I recently saved.
An extended family member of mine left his dog outside in a backyard for over a couple of months. He claims food and water were distributed but whenever somebody went over they never found any. This dog is a small Chihuahua mix, and all he had was a doghouse for protection and one blanket. His food was in a pile with no dog bowl in sight and the water bowl he apparently had was very small and not enough to even last a day.
After hearing this and seeing it for themselves, my mom and uncle talked about the situation and decided to take in the Chihuahua. Ultimately my uncle decided to see if the little guy would be a good fit cause he already had a dog. Unfortunately his pitbull mix didnt take liking, and my moms dogs neither, so guess who was called up?
Yep! Me! My bf and I decided to take him in and he's the best buddy anyone could ask for. He has PTSD from being outside for so long and anxiety but other than that hes great with other people and cats!
So I was thinking about long term. The Chihuahua as far as I know was adopted from a shelter and has been microchipped. My uncle is the only person who has contact with this family member. Hes tried repeatedly to get the papers for me but this family member shrugs it off and claims he doesnt have anything.
Where do I go from this point? I really want the microchip the Chihuahua has to have my information on there, so do I go ahead and just get a new one or how does it work? The family member stated he wanted nothing to do with the dog and gave permission for someone to take him, so I dont see any legal issues with that.
Any help would be appreciated!
