My husky is in a dire situation, I need help?

My 10 month old husky was born with an Ectopic Ureter, and it has completely destroyed one of his kidneys. Unfortunately, we caught it too late to save said kidney, and now it will cost 4,000 to be removed. 4,000 my boyfriend and I absolutely do not have. We have been trying to save for months, and I don't see any hope of us getting it any time soon. Since we found out about his ailment and how much money it will cost to keep him healthy and cared for, we have decided that there is no feasible way we can do this in our current financial and living situation, so we have chosen to rehome him.

The issue is, we can't find a home yet, and now I've noticed his health is declining. He's having trouble urinating and it causes him obvious pain. We are a little panicked and aren't sure where to turn. He needs this surgery now, he can't afford to wait for someone with the money to come along and take him off our hands.

I've considered the humane society, but I'm terrified that they will just euthanize him instead of giving him a fighting change. Aside from the obvious urinating pain, he is a happy, healthy, energetic dog, and he deserves a good life. I don't know what to do, can I trust the humane society? I've reached out to local organizations that specialize in special needs dogs, but I've gotten no response and time is running out.
