I have a cockatiel I've had for almost a year now who absolutely refuses all human contact. I assume it's a girl because of some things about the behavior I've read online, and surely it's had some kind of hand feeding due to having a band around it's leg...
The only way I can feed/water it is because of trays that slide out. I keep the cage clean and in a nice spot, I try to bribe it with toys and music, I even have it next to my computer so we can "spend time" together. We even whistle songs together but the second I try to get close to maybe hold and pet it, absolutely nothing. I get cussed at and they retreat to the back of the cage.
Any tips? No, I'm not getting rid of them.
