I'm a teenager and have never had a pet in my life, even though I've always wanted one. I really like animals and would love somebody to talk to and play with when I finish classes but both my mother and one of my siblings are allergic to cats. Are there hypoallergenic breeds cats that are relatively inexpensive/I am at all likely to find in a shelter? Obviously I'd prefer to adopt but I want to be able to care for the cat and not have to give it away if its too uncomfortable for my family.
