Are they being unreasonable? The dogs I’ve picked out of their available dogs have all been young, not puppies, but they are saying a dog shouldn’t be left alone 8 hours a day when they’re <1 year old and that it won’t get enough interaction or socialize properly. But I live 1.5 miles from work and go home for lunch everyday. So while they’d be alone 8 hours, it would be 4 hours at a time. I’m willing to get a dog walker to help get some of their energy out throughout the day, but it seems like this rescue is not even going to consider me being able to get a non-adult dog. I understand there’s going to be gatekeeping when rescuing to protect the dogs, which i fully understand and support, but it’s really bumming me out that being a single full-time working person seemingly precludes me from getting to raise a dog.
