Hi!
I am planning to move in with my boyfriend. I currently live down south, and am moving to Hoboken NJ in the next month to move in with him. I have 2 dogs. A 4 year old schnoodle who I have had since he was 4 months, and a 1 and a half year old maltipoo who I got when she was around 9 months old back in July. The schnoodle has a very calm temperament now but he does alert bark, which doesn’t annoy me but I know it could annoy others.
It’s just such a big change, my mind keeps thinking how much easier it would be with only one dog but I would NEVER get rid of her. The maltipoo had a rough life before I rescued her, and it’s been hard training her since I got her back in July. She’s really come a very long way, and I gusss I’m worried this move might set us back in the progress she’s made. One of the things I have not been able to train her on is how not to get all up in people’s personal space. She gets so excited when someone walks into the room that she won’t leave them alone. I’ve watched so many videos on how to fix this and I can’t seem to fix it.
Can anyone offer any other tips on moving two dogs in with someone who doesn’t previously have pets? He lives in the city and there are constantly environmental noises, which my dogs both sometimes bark at. Can anyone offer any tips on how to ease that also?
I know, so many questions but I am really nervous about this big change.
Ps- my bf is really sweet and open to having both dogs move in. He has been around them plenty and knows what he is getting himself into. If anything, I’m looking forward to having his help further train my pups and begin them getting used to us living together.
