This may be a bit silly, but it's better to be safe than sorry so here goes.
I'm supposed to get a kitten in about 2 weeks. I've never had a cat before, he'll be around 3 months old and I've been looking into ways of kitten proofing my house.
I've done the obvious, like covering the wires and the likes, but now I'm worrying about the kitten falling from high places. For example, I have a couple bookshelves that are 2 meters (6 and a half feet) tall and I'm worried he might jump on them from the couch and then jump down to the floor and hurt himself.
Are kittens "aware" enough to not jump down from too high up? Like, can they instinctively judge what
they can and cannot do without getting hurt when they're young?
How far can they fall without hurting themselves?
Should I do something to prevent him jumping on high places?
I don't know, I'm sort of panicking and I don't know if I'm overthinking this - help!
