DISCLAIMER: I will be consulting with my dog’s vet to see if it’s safe for her to consume
I have a senior 15 yr old sweetheart dog who is the love of my life. Back in January she tore her ACL in her knee (she’s medium/small sized). The vet has her on deramaxx and gabapentin, and it’s really helped! I also apply heat to her leg, and even though she’s very energetic we try to calm her down and keep her from running around (she loves to play with the cats). However, she still has moments when she starts tip toeing on her leg and starts walking slower. I’m thinking about adding CBD and my friend sells it in the form of pet chews. I want to talk to her vet to see if it would interact with her medication.
My question is have anyone found CBD to be a good benefit and supplement for their dog? Have you seen any side effects when u tried it? I don’t want to give her anything that would hurt her but it would be nice if it helped her pain.
TL;dr I have a senior dog with a torn ACL and is on two different medications and I am interested in adding CBD as a supplement and am wondering if anyone has found benefits in using it for their dogs.
