I have 4 cats and 1 dog, the dog is the newest addition to our family! Lady(dog) has been with us for 9 months and she is as we believe 1 year old. Through out the months she has been trying to make connections with the cats but one of our oldest who we call mama cat (6 years old) has refused to let lady into the family and decided to dominate her(will not let her go into some rooms of the house that the other cats are resting). Our younger two have welcomed her and will play with her ( if mama isn't around to stop it). Mama cat is the dominant. But when in heat mama cat will let lady near her. On occasion I will witness lady come and grab mama by her scruff when she is in heat. Should I allow lady assert her dominance over mama cat? Should I discourage it? I'm just not sure what to do!
