I took my dog on a 5 mile hike yesterday and afterwards he was licking the bottom of his paws, I saw that on one paw it looked like it had been rubbed raw between two tow beans and was bleeding, but it was just on the surface and there wasn’t any puncture wounds from a sharp rock or anything. All his other paws look fine but I’m still gonna take a closer look at them today and put Neosporin on the scratched parts and I heard you’re supposed to wrap them with gauze or some other type of wrap to avoid an infection. Now I have 2 questions is wrapping his paw after putting the Neosporin on the right thing to do? Cause there is conflicting information on leaving it to get air and wrapping it to avoid outside contaminates. It isn’t severe enough to take him to the vet or I would! My other question is, does anyone have a brand of pet hiking shoes that they would suggest? I don’t plan on going on any long walks anytime soon until his foot is healed, but I’d like to be prepared for the next time we go. Thank you!
