Hey everyone, I’ve got a big issue with introducing our new kitten to our cat. It’s been 8 weeks since we brought home our kitten Finn and every time our older black cat, Bagheera, sees our new kitten he hisses and bolts outside and off of the property. Prior to the kitten he never left the house/garden.
We tried introducing them through screens and windows but he’s always acting this way. He has always been an inside/outside cat his whole life and we actually adopted him from being a stray in the neighborhood. We’ve tried locking Bagheera up in the house but he gets such bad anxiety that he either poops, vomits or pees somewhere. He also has no concept of a litter box, which makes things even more difficult.
We’ve since gotten him a calming collar which has helped immensely but now we’re down to just seeing Bagheera once a day when he comes in at night through a window and he leaves pretty soon after that to go off property. Any time he sees the kitten he bats him and hisses.
What can we do to get our cat back?!?!?!
