I recently had to put a cat down because she was old (18 y/o) and in reality because we couldn't afford the hospitaliztion she needed. I wish we had the insurance to help us out with the cost of every thing but now we have it for our young cat and dog (3 y/o and 2 y/o, respectively). I know it will be a life saver one day and I never have to think about declining life-saving medical treatment for my animals just because I can't afford it!
For anyone interested, I went with Pets Best Insurance. $23 per month for the cat and $40 for the dog. I have unlimited annual coverage with a $250 deductible and 90% reimbursement! I found this to be the best deal by far. They cover cancer treatments, surgery and medications, my pets are set and I'm really happy!
I only worry about the pre-existing conditions. I know any injury to my pup's cruciate ligament will not be covered because it's been strained in the past which is quite unfortunate because that surgery is not cheap. And my cat has had an abscess from a cat bite. But other than that no other doctor's visits!
