I am thinking about getting a pet a while now, but I don't know of I'll be suited to buy one as i want them to have the best life possible.

My first option would be two Budgies, as i love birds a lot and always wanted one as kid (we had chicken, they were amazing floofballs too). I've read in a few articles that budgies need a lot of care and attention, and if the virus situation clears up a bit, i might wouldn't be home untill noon or night.

My other option would be Hamster. They are active at night (as am I) and are probably a bit less attention seeking as birbs.
My question to you guys would be: How expensive is it, to maintain one of those pets? And which one would you (not) recommend? What are the downsides?
