to start off this is my family dog. she’s a hound mutt, and about 45lbs. she’s a little over one, so she’s still very playful and active. she bites and nibbles at everyone but only bites me hard often leaving indents, scratches, and sometimes it breaks my skin. it’s hard to get away because i don’t want to hurt her and she often will stand on top of after knocking me over. she really likes to bite my hair, nose, and wrists.
my mom gets mad if i yell, and/or put her in her crate when she gets rough. things i’ve read and tried to get her away that haven’t worked are... - offering a toy to chew - making a high pitched yip and walking away - looking her in the eyes and saying no - saying no and putting her in her crate - holding her mouth shut - giving her a pat on her back by her tail and saying no (this one mad me feel really bad and i regret it so so much, however it wasn’t any harder than how i playfully pat her)
idk what to do. no one steps in to help. they usually laugh or encourage it. i love this dog so much, but the bitting is actually hurtful.
EDIT: sometimes they even give her treats when i yell or put her in a timeout to make her feel better
