I have an 8 year old dog, I think she is a terrier and pit bull mix weighing about 30lb. A couple weeks ago she was off the leash and jumping around and all of a sudden she yelped and then was limping. I let her rest for a couple days and she seemed to get better. Now today we went on a 2.5 mile walk and now she is limping like crazy. I am currently laid off from work and a huge vet bill is not something I can afford.
I thought I had signed up for pet ins with nationwide at the beginning of the year through work but when I called I didn’t. I signed up for the medical one and it is effective June 1. I brought her to the vet today but before they even saw her I explained this whole insurance situation and they said to not even see her because then it would be a pre existing condition. Am I going to have a problem getting this through nationwide after June 1? She has never seen anyone for it but I’ve read nationwide is pretty tricky about rejecting claims. Also is it possible to get the claim approved beforehand and putting out a few thousand dollars without knowing if a procedure is approved?
