We got our beagle puppy in January, he did not growl for a while but eventually he started growling a lot, when he is eating and does not want to be taken away from his food he growls when we touch him, when he is chewing on something he is not supposed to he growls, when he is under something and we need him out he growls. Even when hes not doing anything and is picked up he growls sometimes even though sometimes he is okay with being picked up. When he is picked up while sleeping he growls. It's not just growling, he bites too but never snarls or shows his teeth. I read something about fear periods in puppies but hes been doing this constantly for a while now. He acts very dominant and independent always wanting to wander around and mounts my other(bigger) dog. He causes lots of conflict in the animals. picking fights with the cats, which never escalate to injury. He does seem to be playing though but the cats are not interested. He gets along with my other dog most of the time because they play a lot and sleep next to each other. They also run to each others defense when a cat attacks or they hear the other one barking at anything. Other than that he is very sweet and always likes to be pet and plays a lot but this aggression needs to get under control, any advice?
