Rescued new dog - How can I stimulate him while I am gone

I just rescued a 3 year old beagle pug mix. I live alone so sometime he will be alone too, which he is fine with. He doesn't have separation anxiety or anything and enjoys the crate as a time to rest.

When I get back though he is incredibly high energy and even after a long walk where he wears himself out, after a drink of water he is back at 100%.

Is there anything I can put in his cage that will keep him occupied? I tried "dog videos" but he wasn't interested in watching the birds they had on TV. I was thinking of a thing he can sniff outside of the cage (like a dog or cat scented object) or maybe something that vibrates while he is in it. He is also big on the beagle side so he loves to tear stuff up and rip it apart.

Does anything like this exist that keeps dogs occupied and stimulated why they are alone?
