Hey all! This has been really hard for me, at the end of the day I want to know how to make this adjustment easier for my kitten.
I have an 8 month old kitten, I got him around 7-weeks old. He was hand-raised because he was abandoned as a newborn kitten. Separation from his litter mates went fine. He got really attached to my family’s older male cat, he is 8. This cat has been so sweet, there was never an issue between the two. The wrestle, cuddle, and groom each other daily. My family has two other cats.
I am moving for med school this summer, Teddy will not be a year old yet. But I feel so awful separating them. At the end of the day I will, but how do I make this adjustment easier for Teddy? Do you think getting another cat once I get down there will help? Or does anyone have suggestions? I can’t bring the older cat with me as it would be unfair to make him move into an apartment after living in a huge house his whole life, plus he isn’t as attached as Teddy is.
