I currently have a three year old boy cat that I adopted when he was 12wks old, Oliver. I also have a 5 year old Australian Shepherd and they get along well. I’ve been thinking about adding a second boy kitten to the family because my friend rescued a few abandoned kittens. I’ve been reading articles online that seem to be discouraging the idea of integrating a kitten with an older cat. I don’t want my current cat to feel neglected or replaced if I get a kitten and begin to act out. I’ve never had two cats that were from two different litters so I’m curious on what the integration process would be and what to expect or if I should scrap the entire idea of adopting a kitten because of my older cat. My older cat hasn’t been around other cats since I adopted him, as he’s been an indoor cat and is always with my dog.
TL;DR: have a three year old boy cat and am thinking about adopting a boy kitten, but I am worried about the risks of integration as I don’t want my older cat to feel neglected.
