My partner and my cat has been living together for 1 month. We did the initial separation, scent swapping, small play sessions and they are tolerant of each other.
The largest issue is that the male cat doesn’t seem to clue in that the female cat doesn’t want to play. He chases her always with friendly body language, but she doesn’t want any of it and hisses, swats, turns into a fight.
How can I help him learn that she doesn’t want to play? Will they naturally figure it out?
He is 3 and she is 8, so I think the age gap doesn’t help as he’s more energetic.
