Hello,
My cat was recently diagnosed with central vestibular disease, and the vet gave him antibiotics to clear out any possible pathogens in his CSF - Clindamycin in capsule form, and Primor in a tablet.
He takes his Clindamycin with no issue (he eats it from my hand, mixed in with some treats) but he will not at all take the primor, and always gags and spits for 10 minutes after trying to make him take it.
I have tried pill pockets, coating in butter, bacon paste, tuna fish juice, and he just will not take it. Since he handles his capsule fine, can I crush the primor up and put it in empty capsules for him?
I have been in contact with his vets who suggested the coating in butter, pill pockets, etc, but they never suggested grinding it up and putting it in a capsule form, is there a reason why they would not advise this? Or can i go ahead and do it?
I am just really desperate at this point.
Thank you in advance!
