Update on sweet stray cat that I found while on a walk + quick question

Here's a link to the previous post from a day ago

I've been having that cat stay in my bathroom with his own food and water, a litter box, a toy, and a blanket. Surprisingly, he hasn't cared much about being stuck in there and he sleeps a lot. He also eats quite a bit and drinks water like normal and uses the litterbox. Even though he's not neutered, he still hasn't sprayed anywhere thankfully, but I'll be getting him neutered very soon.

Today, I took him to a vet who gave a physical exam (other than being thin probably from not having consistent food source, the vet thinks everything else is okay), checked for a chip (he doesn't have one), and gave him a rabies vac. But when he went to draw blood to check for the main stray cat diseases, he wasn't having it and tried to bite and scratch. So the vet gave me a sedative pill to give him for next time before we go back in and get that done. So gotta keep him in the bathroom separated from my first cat another day :( My question is, he sleeps A LOT. I know it's normal for cats to sleep a lot but it seems to be what he does the vast majority of the day. Is this normal for a cat that was previously a stray and living outside or is this a bad sign? I'm in Florida so he was living on the streets in over 90-degree weather and frequent storms so I'm hoping that's why. Maybe it's also from having such a rough day at the vet but he was like that before we went to the vet, too.
