Our 6 year old shepherd mix has been recently diagnosed with IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia). We’re from PA, she spent the night Thursday last week in a vet hospital in Virginia where she went through numerous tests and a blood transfusion. Just looking for anyone else who’s pup might’ve had something similar. Have a lot of questions to ask. The transfusion seemed to have taken - but her blood test yesterday said she was anemic (16 on the scale). She seems like she’s doing super well though which is the confusing part. Appetite is back in full force, seems alert and focused, like her normal self. We’re getting blood tests done every day almost. She’s on 6 different meds including prednisone and that seems to me helping a lot, but don’t know if it’s quite the long term solution...if there even is one. If anyone would reach out it would be a relief.
