Looking for therapy animal recommendation- what species would be best for me?

A dog/cat isn't going to work- dog is too big of a time commitment, cats make me allergic (plus I don't like them much).

I'm in college now, living in a tiny house (200 sq ft) apartment. I plan to stay here for 2-3 more years before (hopefully) attending grad school.

My doctor recommended a therapy pet to help with my chronic loneliness. I should be allowed to keep a pet in housing that doesn't allow pets (i.e. future grad school apartment) if I get the approval of my doctor/psychiatrist.

Things I'm looking for:

-lives relatively long life (I'd like knowing the pet would be there for me (hopefully) like 6-10 years)

-preferably furry, capable of being held and petted

-not too loud

-monthly care is not too expensive (living alone, my rent is pretty high)

This might be hard to figure out. Was thinking a bunny, maybe? A gerbil?
