Air travel with my pet dog

Hi!

I'm planning a big move to Toronto from Cebu, Philippines and I would really like to bring my dog along with me in the same flight.

My pet is a mixed breed shih tzu-maltese. He weighs around 7kg.

I have a couple concerns:

I cannot seem to find an airline who allows pets in the cabin so I'm planning to take a boat ride to Manila, Philippines (the capital) and fly with Air Canada since they are a more pet-friendly policy. Have you tried flying on Air Canada with a pet? How was the experience like?

The travel time from Manila to Toronto is around 18 hrs. I have taken road trips with my dog and he's been really good with it. He's very calm in those trips. Have you taken your dog in a flight this long? What tips can you give?

Please also share if you have more tips on traveling with a pet via air. I'd really appreciate it a lot.

I do hope I can take my dog along with me on this move. I don't have the heart to rehome him.
