[Cat] Small apartment with no outside space

We are looking to get a cat but our apartment is only 530sqft/50sqm in size with no access to outside.

I wonder if any one has any experience with an apartment of a similar size and if their cat is coping without a large amount of space and no ability to go outside?

I am thinking it’s probably not worth it and might be slightly cruel, but I would love to see if people know otherwise.
