Typing this on my phone. I love my dog Toby, he is my best friend and I don’t think I could live without him in my life. I’m currently a junior in high school, the youngest of my siblings, and I’m planning on going to college after high school. My mom is buying a house out of state and planning to move after we all leave for college. My brother asked her what she would do with the dogs when she moved she said she would “Throw him away.” my mom lies a lot but she is really impulsive and you can never tell if she will actually do something or not, plus she has let my dog run away before and I was the one who had to bring him home. Anyways, I’m scared that when I go to college my mom is going to give my dog away, the college I’m planning to go to does not allow dogs and I will not be able to rent an apartment. I don’t know what to do with Toby, she might keep him but she also might give him away. Does anyone know what to do in my situation? All my friends don’t like Toby because they think he looks scary or that he would bite them. I don’t know if there is any place that would take care of your dog for a year and let you take them back. Maybe I’d take a gap year to stay with him? I might just be overthinking what she said, it could be a joke but just in case I want to be able to protect him.
