Still trying to get my rescue puppy to poop outside

I think I'm doing everything right, but just in case I'm going to ask here.

I got him maybe 4 days ago. He's pooped once, inside, because I got confused about his potty signal (he had been out just a few minutes before.) I didn't yell or scold, just took him outside to finish (he went poop 2 more times out there.)

I take him out whenever he asks or about every 2 hours and we walk the same way because he decided he likes peeing over there. I praise him every time he goes potty. He gets a hyper about seeing the neighbor dogs but otherwise he's calm about it.

I'm guessing this is just a waiting game but maybe someone has some suggestions?
