long story short, I've had my 3 yr old black cat since he was a wee baby and I raised him. he's always been the most overly affectionate, cuddly, attached butt ever.
I got a kitten for my bf 9 months ago because he's never raised his own pet before and he's never HAD his own pet before.
we recently rehomed her because she was too aggressive. we tried everything we could to deter mean behavior, biting, etc but none of it work. if you pushed her away or yelped like a cat to tell her she's hurting you, she would gnaw you HARDER. she's drew blood and left a lot of cuts.
now I didn't care much for her behavior towards us, because we could simply walk away from her or use a toy and distract her with that.
but my 3 yr old cat didn't have that luxury. he would walk away from her, she would chase him. he would cry, she would attack harder and draw blood. he would try to hide in the bedroom, she would follow him and bite him through the blanket. she has pulled fur out of his neck. he developed chin acne after she showed up. he would have big dried spots of blood all over his neck and back. I've witnessed her do a lot of this and I tried my best to separate them and tell her no.
my last straw was when I was told that my cat would sleep on the couch upstairs and ALL through out the night she would attack him and keep him up, both my cat and the person.
it's been a week now. the first three days, my cat was different. he was having zoomies like CRAZY. I've never seen him exercise that much in such a short amount of time. he was EXTREMELY chatty, and that's a lot bc he's always been a talkative boy. he seemed really happy and he was enjoying being able to come under the blankets.
then he slept for 2 days straight. he stayed downstairs and didn't even follow me when I go up to cook, and he always does. the person even asked why he hasn't seen my cat at all. he's just been sleeping downstairs. he's been sleeping in our bed with us for two days straight which is fine.
I thought it's because he must've been restless for months because she's constantly attacking him, 24/7 unless SHE is sleeping.
now he's not chatty at all unless I pull out his fav treats. and he seems to always have a stink eye when he's awake. he's been sleeping but not around us now. he's been sleeping in the other bedroom and I don't even see him in the day unless I go sit by him over there. he doesn't run away from me or ignore me but he isn't around me unless I do it.
is he upset? I don't know why he has such a strange behavior shift. I can feel it. maybe even tho the kitten stressed him out so bad he's worried now? please help me have some insight into possibilities.
