10 Month Old Kitten Still Bites like Crazy.

I adopted my sweet calico kitten Charlotte in early June of 2018. She was born March 30th of 2018. Let me preface this by saying I absolutely LOVE her so much. She's a super loving cat, she comes running to the door meowing whenever I come home, she's super cuddly, and all around just adorable. The only problem with her is that she bites a LOT. When we're playing (her favorite toy is literally just a piece of wire with cardboard at the end), she'll get tired of playtime and sit down to rest, so I'll go to do something else. As soon as she's ready to start playing again, she bites to let me know it's playtime again. She also bites to let me know she would like sink water (she has a bowl, she just prefers fresh from sink), if I try to reach over her to get something, etc. A lot of times it seems like there's no apparent reason. She nips at my ankles while I cook or brush my teeth in the morning. Sometimes she latches on with her teeth and does the aggressive "bunny kick" too. Here's what I've tried:

  • Pushing back into the bite (and upwards into the roof of her mouth if she's biting my finger), this just makes her bite more.
  • Ignoring her, going as far as putting her in "time-out" (shutting her in a common area outside of my room). She's clingy, and she'll cry while she's shut out for a few minutes, and then come back in and act the exact same.
  • Crying out in pain when she bites me.
  • Looking her in the eye and telling her "Charlotte, that really hurt." (sounds crazy, I know. But I read it on a thread.)

Really the only thing I HAVEN'T tried is spritzing her with water when she bites. Which I'm 50/50 on doing, because I've read mixed things about it. Getting another cat isn't an option right now. I would really love some insight as to why she acts like this and how I can help it.
