4 month old kitten biting my nose in the middle of the night?

Hello! We recently adopted a new kitten, and he is an absolute love! He does have a strange behavior that I don’t know how to fix. Usually, around 4am, he becomes very affectionate and comes to visit me while I am sleeping. It starts with sitting by my face and purring, and then it leads to him biting my nose. He has been doing this for about 3 weeks now.

Every time he bites my nose, I make a loud “ouch” noise, then put him on the floor, trying my best to send the message that I do not like what he is doing. He immediately jumps back on the bed to start the process over. I even try hiding my nose under my arm or the blanket, but he is very persistent. I do believe he is doing this as a form of showing affection, as it does not seem aggressive. It also does not seem like he is overstimulated, as it is happening at night while we are asleep. Does anyone have any suggestions to teach him to stop? Should I keep doing what I am doing, or try a new method like ignoring him all together? Thank you so much!
