Can someone just give me a good guesstimate oh how much it would cost to remove a tumor from my cat believed to be in the abdominal area? And if its even the right thing to do?

My vet is sure he has a tumor. Since he is 13/14 and I'm assuming it would be pretty expensive I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I'll be putting him down soon. (He is barely eating) but before I finally come to terms that I have to put him down I just want to get an idea of how much it might cost to have the tumor removed if I did?

Im assuming he would need: x rays, blood work, general anesthesia, surgery, pain meds, ext. It all adds up.

If it was around a grand that is something I could consider. If its more like 5 grand I can not.

I also would like to know if its even the right thing to do. Should I even put my 13/14 year old cat through that if it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg?

Thanks
